Individual Psychotherapy:
My job is to pay attention to you and understand how it is that you are stuck or in need of assistance. I will work with you to articulate the goals of therapy. Once I understand how you are and how you would like things to be different, I will pick some of the tools out of my tool belt that I believe can help you make the changes necessary to meet your goals. I have over thirty years worth of tools in my tool belt so I can tailor the treatment to meet your specific needs and get to the root of the problem. I am active and goal directed while being careful to empower you and not do your work for you. Come in for individual psychotherapy when you are ready to get some professional help in order to make some lasting changes.
Couple therapy:
Nothing is more challenging than maintaining a relationship. Relationships can be the greatest source of joy and/or the greatest source of pain. I want to help you make your relationship the greatest source of joy. When you come into couple therapy the relationship will be my client. I will guide you to communicate with each other in ways that enable you each to be heard and understood. I will actively help you connect (or reconnect) with each other in an atmosphere of safety and respect. I will help you each alter your dance steps so that you are in synch (rather than stepping on each other’s toes).
Strength-based, Collaborative, Action oriented, Supportive, Mindfulness-based.
Based on my extensive training in Interpersonal Neurobiology I am able to incorporate cutting-edge findings from a variety of scientific disciplines into my work. Interpersonal Neurobiology is a frame of reference that enables psychotherapists, and clients, to benefit from the recent surge of findings about the brain and nervous system in order to foster change and promote wellbeing.
